The Spriitlees Adventures in Kindness

Marcia Stankard from Westwood, MA wanted to help raise awareness and funds for critical children’s health charities
including Type 1 Diabetes (T1D).

She has written a children’s book series about the importance of kindheartedness and the magic of giving
based on the characters The SPRiiTELEES (pronounced sprite-lees) from Kindness Grove Knoll. Her first book, an award winning Christmas book, first published in 2006, benefits pediatric brain tumor research and her second book benefits JDRF.

For Diabetes Awareness Month, she created audio video picture books from her award winning titles, featured on Fox News and NECN, available for free on YouTube through her website: www.SparkKindnessNow.org

Her experience with her books has been that young children, ages 4 to 9, fall in love with The SPRiiTELEES from Kindness Grove Knoll and ask to hear the books over and over. She challenges downloaders, “if your child asks to hear the book a second time or talks about the book after listening, please consider making a donation to JDRF for the amount you would have paid to buy a new book.

She said she is proud that her books showcase the very morale that they teach children. After all, the books encourage children to hear the story and complete their own three acts of kindness. And while she hopes to help raise funds with her unique outreach, she is confident that at a minimum, she’ll spark a lot of dialogue about Type 1 and the need for a cure.

Marcia set a goal of 10,000 free video book downloads this holiday season! Be sure to download her books and share them with a child you love. As a clever initiative for Diabetes Awareness Month, let’s help her spread the link to families and friends of JDRF.  Find out more at www.SparkKindnessNow.org.
