In January 2000, two childhood friends, Rich Noonan and John Hurley, teamed up to create and organize a road race to raise money for diabetes awareness. Although neither of them have T1D, both of their sisters did. John’s sister Shannon passed away in 1995 due to diabetic complications and the race is held in her memory each year. Rich’s sister, Patty, had diabetes for 38 years prior to becoming diabetes-free after a pancreas transplant. Thank you to the community of committed supporters for raising $20,000 for JDRF in 2012, bringing the total raised over the past 12 years to $258,300!
