Urge Your Senators to Support Renewal of the SDP

in

JDRF is excited to report that the U.S. House of Representatives approved, by an overwhelming bipartisan majority of 392-37, the “Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015,” which contains a two-year renewal of the Special Diabetes Program (SDP). The SDP funds important research through the National Institutes of Health (NIH). A two-year renewal of the SDP will allow promising type 1 diabetes (T1D) research that is leading the way to better treatments, prevention strategies and ultimately a cure to continue without interruption.

The Senate is expected to consider the legislation either prior to adjournment on March 27, or when they return in two weeks from the scheduled recess. Please help us move this legislation out of the Senate and on to the President by acting today on an action alert to remind the Senate that the package contains a two-year renewal of the SDP!

Most recently, JDRF sent a letter in support of the “Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015” to House Leadership that expressed our collective appreciation for the two-year renewal of the SDP included as part of the legislative package. JDRF volunteers just like you made a big difference in advancing this legislation through the House, meeting with Members of Congress at home and in D.C., and responding to JDRF action alerts. With more steps to go in the Senate, your continued advocacy is important!

While you reach out to your Senators and ask them to renew the SDP, please also take time to say “Thank You” to your Representative for his or her House vote today.

Thank you for all you do to help us turn Type One into Type None.
